3rd District Sweeps Zone Oratorical Contest
LAKE GEORGE — The 3rd & 4th Districts of the New York State American Legion held their Zone Oratorical competition Feb. 6 at Lake George Jr. & Sr. High School. Two contestants from each district vied for the chance to represent the Zone at the Department of New York Oratorical competition on March 5 at Sand Creek Middle School in Albany.

Tank-Guarded Post in Livingston County Woods Greets Department Leaders
The Department leaders’ four-day visitation to the 7th District wrapped up in Livingston County on Sunday, Feb. 7, with a mid-afternoon dinner at Conlon Mulvaney Post 1779 in rural Conesus.
The Post Hall is nestled on a tiny hill in the woods. If it weren’t for the two canons and tank standing guard on the rolling, tree-spotted lawns, Department Commander James Yermas said he would have thought he was at one of his favorite hunting camps. (See photo gallery.)

‘Operation Comfort Warriors’ on Commander’s Mind in Ontario County Swing
Operation Comfort Warriors (OCW), the American Legion program to help wounded and injured service members and veterans, was on the mind of Department of New York Commander James Yermas as he swung through the 7th District’s Ontario County Saturday, Feb. 6. (See photo gallery.)
Now it’s on the mind of local Legionnaires and some staffers at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua.

Visitation ‘Makes History’ in Wayne County
