American Legion’s First Twitter Town Hall
We are excited to announce our first ever Twitter Town Hall on March 1 from 5 to 6 p.m.
The social media forum will be moderated by Department of New York Membership Chairman Gary Schacher.This is a new way for us to connect with veterans and others who are interested in joining the American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion, the Legion Auxiliary, and the Legion Riders – collectively known as the “Legion Family.”

Trump Budget Would Fund New Veterans’ Cemetery in Queens
President Trump’s budget includes funding to construct a cemetery in Queens for at least 50,000 veterans as part of a new effort to expand burial options in densely populated cities for families of service members, the New York Post reports.

When Legionnaire Brian Galarza was hired by American Airlines in March of 2016 as a fleet service clerk at John F. Kennedy International (JFK) Airport, little did he realize that he would spur awareness for American prisoners of war and those missing in action (POW/MIAs).

Legionnaires to Brief Legislators at 2018 Hill Day Event
ALBANY — Legionnaires from across New York State will converge on Albany March 12 and 13 for The American Legion’s annual Hill Day to discuss veterans’ related legislation and meet with state legislators. Members of the Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion also will participate.

Utica Post Hosts 2018 Dept. Bowling Tournament in April
UTICA — The 69th annual American Legion Department of New York Bowling Tournament takes place over several weekends in April and May at Vista Lanes & Lounge in Yorkville (near Utica).
Hosted by Utica Post 229, the Legion Family tournament is open to members of the Legion, the Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion, and the Legion Riders. There are team events, and doubles and singles events. (Info and Forms)
