Helm to Congress: Need Transition Assistance, Better PTSD Care
WASHINGTON (Feb. 25, 2015) – In a hearing room packed with more than 300 veterans and their families, American Legion National Commander Michael D. Helm laid out a wide-ranging legislative agenda before members and leadership of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs. “The prevailing concern,” Helm told the lawmakers, “is transition assistance.”

State Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Westchester) announced a $50,000 grant for Ossining American Legion Post 506 and presented a ceremonial check at the post on Feb. 24 during a meeting with his Veterans Advisory Council.

A Memorial Service for Past Department Auxiliary President Regina Harris and Past Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Detachment Commander John Rogers will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, “to celebrate their lives and honor their service to the American Legion,” Kings County SAL Commander Joe SantaCroce announced.
