    Summer Issue of Legion New York Mag Is Available

    Cover of Legion NY Magazine, Summer 2021The summer issue of Legion New York magazine is available for viewing and downloading.

    This issue provides a glimpse of a number of Legion Posts returning to some normal activity in time for Memorial Day as well as for other events.

    The Rockland Pirates Post 130 Junior Team won the New York State American Legion Baseball Championship.

    The state tournament was held at Murnane Field in Utica, July 29 to July 31. It was a four-team double elimination tournament, with champions from the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 9th Districts.

    • District 4 Champion – Clinton County Mariners

    • District 5 Champion – Utica Post 229

    • District 6 Champion – Endicott Post 82

    • District 9 Champion – Rockland Pirates Post 130

    SAUGERTIES — Tournament MVP Maxwell Schmarder drove in three runs, including the go-ahead score in the sixth inning, to lead Hamburg Post 527 to a second consecutive New York State American Legion Senior Baseball championship July 28 at Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex (known as Cantine Field).

    Hamburg erased a 9-3 deficit to win the championship with a 13-9 triumph over Smith Post 24 of Rome, adding to the title it won in 2019 — the last time the tournament was held.
