PDC Ken Governor Passes to Post Everlasting
Kenneth F. Governor, the 2013-2014 department commander who helped usher in a new era of communications and marketing for the Department of New York, has gone on to Post Everlasting. He was 73.
Calling hours are at the Lyons Funeral Home, on Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, on Monday, Dec. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by a military ceremony and Christian Prayer Service. Burial with military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. On Tuesday, North Greenbush Memorial Post 1489 will host a reception at 1 p.m.

Legion Posts Bring Santa to Kids
American Legion Posts across New York State have been hosting a variety of holiday events, including holding Christmas parties for children – such as Utica Post 229’s annual event that boasts clowns, elves, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, and Santa himself.

Brocton Sophomore Wins Chautauqua Co. Speech Contest
David Skinner, sophomore at Brocton High School, won the Chautauqua County American Legion Oratorical Contest held on Sunday, Dec. 13 at the Herman Kent Post 777 in Celeron NY.

Not Too Early to Apply to Legion College
It is not too early to start applying for the 2016 American Legion College of New York, noted College Dean Tim Collmer.
The dates for the 2016 session are June 17, 18 and 19. Deadline for applying is April 1.
