Syracuse Team Wins Department Golf Tournament
MARATHON, NY — The Department of New York’s annual golf tournament for Legionnaires was blessed with great weather – once again – at Maple Hill Golf Club here, reported Golf Chairman Auseklis Krumins.
“The event was well-attended and everyone had a great time, regardless of how well they played.”
This year Dominic Fortuno’s team from Post 1650 in Syracuse came in first place, knocking out last year’s winning team from Bainbridge Post 806, headed by Richard Rusakiewicz, whose team this year finished third.
The second place team was from Post 151 in Middletown, captained by Abe Escobar.
Tim Spoony won the prize for longest drive, and Richard Morris from Columbia County won for making a shot closest to the pin.
At the dinner afterwards, Krumins thanked everyone for attending this year’s event and looked forward to seeing everyone again next year.
