    Richmond County’s Lou Gerriero Passes

It is with deep sadness and a great sense of personal loss that I inform you of the passing of Lou Guerriero.

Lou was a World War II veteran who served our great country in its time of greatest peril. He served the American Legion on the Post, County, District, Department and National  levels culminating in  his election as Department Vice Commander for the Department of New York. Lou was an integral part of Richmond County where he served as its leader for many years.

He will be most remembered for his lifelong devotion to his wife Kay and his mentorship of many of the leaders of today’s Department of New York.

Viewing will be at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, 530 Narrows Road South, Staten Island, NY on Monday 7 – 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2– 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m.  Wednesday at Saint Joseph’s Church in Rosebank, Staten Island,. with internment at Calverton National Cemetery immediately following.

The Richmond County and Kings County Legion family will have a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Lou was a great Legionnaire who did not shy away from speaking his mind on the topics of the day and I will miss both his kind words and  stern lectures which always ended with a smile and a hearty pat on the back.
