  NY Legion Programs Impact 160,000 Kids

  “Not only do we protect our country… but we are here to protect our children,” Children & Youth Chairman John P. Powers said in announcing at July’s Annual Department Convention that Legion Posts statewide conducted programs impacting over 160,000 children. (Convention photo gallery.)

  “It brings tears to my eyes seeing battle-hardened veterans working with children,” he said, noting that Posts spent $541,270 on those programs and volunteered a total of 58,870 hours.

  Those stats came from 818 Posts (out of 862) that submitted reports.
