NY Commander presents $100,000 to Homeward Bound Adirondacks

    Check presentation
American Legion Department of New York Commander Keith Koster presented a check for $100,000 to Homeward Bound Adirondacks on Sept. 22.

Homeward Bound Adirondacks is a rural veterans retreat that assists in treatment of post-traumatic stress (PTS) and the prevention of veteran suicide, complementing The American Legion’s “Be the One” campaign. The retreat offers at no cost to the veteran, the opportunity to build camaraderie with other vets while experiencing the wilderness.

Receiving the check are Homeward Bound Board President Mark Moeller (a member of Tupper Lake American Legion Post 220) and Executive Director Valerie Ainsworth.

The donation is part of the Department of New York’s effort to stem veteran PTS, homelessness and suicide by supporting organizations that address those issues.
