Not Too Early to Apply to Legion College
It is not too early to start applying for the 2016 American Legion College of New York, noted College Dean Tim Collmer.
The dates for the 2016 session are June 17, 18 and 19. Deadline for applying is April 1.
“We look forward to having 100 students this year,” he said, adding that the college is open to members of the Sons of The American Legion (SAL). Posts and Squadrons are encouraged to sponsor members they want actively involved.
Legion College is a three-day immersion into the Legion’s programs and structure as well as issues facing the largest veterans’ organization in the country. Held at Morrisville State College (SUNY Morrisville), Legion College fosters leadership skills of Legion and SAL members as they work in teams to solve problems they may face in their home post or squadron. The curriculum covers an array of topics, such as leadership and communication; Americanism, children and youth; MyLegion.org; legislation; constitution and bylaws; duties of post officers; media relations; membership.
