4 Players Receive Baseball Scholarshps
The New York State American Legion Baseball Scholarship Committee has awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship to a young Rome baseball player and $500 scholarships to three other players from Amsterdam, Eden and New Paltz.

Yorktown Post Unveils Honor-Flag Program
YORKTOWN, NY — Yorktown American Legion Post 1009 in Yorktown Heights held an unveiling ceremony Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Gazebo of the Jack Devito Veterans Memorial Field for its new honor-flag program to honor deceased veterans, the Yorktown Daily Voice reported.

Legion Riders Escort Bicyclists to Avon, Present $1,500
The American Legion Riders from Lima Post 282 greeted and escorted the cross-country bicyclists (three Boy Scouts and a Vietnam vet) to Legion Post 294 in Avon Sunday, reports Jerry Ketchum, vice director of New York State American Legion Riders. “it was the first time they were escorted by a Legion Riders Chapter.”

New York American Legion Baseball Champions West Seneca Post 735 was eliminated from the American Legion Regional Championships Friday in Leesburg, VA after losing to Albemarle of Virginia, 7-3, in the third round of the regionals.
