New Baltimore Hosts Vets Appreciation Luncheon

New Baltimore American Legion Post 1614 of Greene County held its first annual Veteran’s Appreciation Day Luncheon Feb. 14 at the New Baltimore Fire House.

“Single digit temperatures did not deter the attendance of local veterans and residents,” noted 3rd District Vice Commander Tim Burch. The event started at noon and “was hosted by New Baltimore Fire Company, the American Legion Family of Legionnaires and Auxiliary, and the Town of New Baltimore.”

Speakers included 19th Congressional District Candidate John Faso who thanked veterans for their service and those still serving in harm’s way. Veterans Miracle Center spokeswoman Melody Burns invited those in attendance to check out the VMC’s website and warehouse to see what is offered for veterans in need. New York Division of Veteran’s Affairs Spokesman Tyrone Waklatsi spoke of veterans benefits and assistance to veterans in need. Patriot Flight President Frank DeSorbo announced the first women’s only Veterans’ Flight to D.C. on May 14, 2016.
