Legion Riders in Altamont Ride for Vets Programs
ALTAMONT — The American Legion Riders at Helderberg Post 977 in Altamont hosted the 3rd Annual Poker Run to raise money in support of area veteran programs on Saturday, August 29, Albany’s ABC News10 TV reported.
The money raised goes to programs such as the Albany Coalition for Homeless Vets, Woofs for Warriors project for PTSD and traumatic brain injuries, and the Leatherstocking Honor Flight.
Legion Rider Steven Oliver told News10: “We started this charter with the Altamont Legion Post three years ago. We get to do two things that are passions of ours — riding motorcycles and helping veterans.”
He added: “Our motto’s always been, in the field you don’t ever leave a man behind, and we’re not going to leave a man behind back at home either.”
