Legion Legislative Chair Testifies on Veterans’ Employment
With veterans’ employment being a priority legislative issue for The American Legion Department of New York, its legislative chairman, Frank LaMarsh, testified before the State Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee this month at a hearing on veterans employment programs.
“Seven years ago,” he told legislators, “New York State implemented its ‘Experience Counts’ program to help veterans with valuable military experiences transition to the civilian workforce. This campaign does not seem to have met expectations to reach a significant number of returning veterans. Unfortunately many are completely unaware of this State benefit. One of the American Legion Department of New York’s priorities is to enhance public awareness of this program and how to take advantage of it.”
