Hawthorne Cubs Earn Top Award to Advance to Scouts

HAWTHORNE, NY – Hawthorne Cub Scout Pack 1, chartered by Hawthorne American Legion Post 112, held its annual Blue and Gold dinner April 28 to celebrate the history of Scouting, and honor 23 Cub Scouts who achieved the Arrow of Light Award. “This is the highest award in Cub Scouting and is earned before scouts can cross over and become Boy Scouts,” Cubmaster Robert Occhiogrossi noted.

The following scouts earned this award: Nicholas Bedin, Bobby Brock, Adam Cartano, Alex Delpozzo; Ryan Devlin, Jack Fiskaa, Thomas Fiskaa, Memphis Garvin, Keith Haecker, Brandon Hawson, James Keolamphu, Alexander Loshigian, James Miele, Anthony Napolitano, Michael Newell, Paul Occhiogrossi, Ryan Rodriguez, Logan Schwan, Henry Sliss, Michael Spahr, Leo Trapani, Sterling Varga, and Shaun Williams.

“This group of 23 boys is very special, and has a unique bond,” Occhiogrossi said, noting that the Pack has sponsored food drives for the Food Bank of Westchester, and donated gifts to Blythedale Children’s Hospital and Rosary Hill Home, and prepared meals for Midnight Run, among other things.
