    Coxsackie-Athens High School Junior Wins Zone 3 Oratorical Contest

    LAKE GEORGE — Coxsackie-Athens High School junior Aiden Boehm won the Zone 3 competition of the American Legion Oratorical Contest that was held Saturday, February 2, at Lake George High School, reports Bob Dial, Coxsackie-Athens English teacher and member of Cairo American Legion Post 983

    Zone 3 consists of American Legion posts covering 18 counties in northeastern New York State. By winning Zone 3, Aiden received an $800 award and also qualifies for the statewide Department contest that will take place in Albany on March 2.

    The American Legion Oratorical Contest requires high school students to write, memorize and deliver original speeches about the United States Constitution, focusing on the duties and obligations of the citizen, along with the Bill of Rights.

    Aiden is being co-sponsored by Coxsackie American Legion Post 166 (Commander Chauncey Cole) and Cairo American Legion Mohican Post 983 (Commander Michael Adrian).
