Bainbridge Post Grabs 1st Place in Golf Outing
MARATHAN — The Department of New York’s annual golf tournament was held on August 5 at the Maple Hill Golf Club here and “once again the golfers were blessed with great weather,” reported Golf Chairman Auseklis Krumins. “This was the first year that the entire Legion family was included so the event was well-attended,” he said. “Everyone had a great time, regardless of how well they played.”
Bainbridge Team #1, captained by Richard Rusakiewicz of Post 806, finished in first place.
The second place team was from Post 974 in Whitney Point, captained by Post Adjutant Suzanne Williams.
Another team from Post 974 came in third place, captained by Post Commander Leon Skinner.
David Hauber from Bainbridge Team #1 won the prize for longest drive for men and Carold Krupitza from Post 1645 in Binghamton won longest drive for women. Dom Fortuno from Post 1650 in Syracuse won for making a shot closest to the pin and Carol Krupitza won closest to the pin in the women’s category, with a distance of only 6 feet, 4 inches.
Before handing out the awards at the dinner afterwards, Chairman Krumins welcomed everyone attending the first all-Legion Family golf outing and said he looked forward to seeing everyone again next year.
