    70th Bowling Tourney Lists Top Winners, Full Results

    LeROY, NY — The Sherrill Legion team of Pete Noto, Chad Glover, DJ Fogg and John Fogg bowled its way to the top team prize in the 70th annual New York State American Legion Bowling Tournament.

    The tourney was held over several weekends in April and May at LeRoy Legion Lanes (Botts-Floritto Post 576) in LeRoy and Mancuso Bowling Center in Batavia.

    NY Legion Family Honors National SAL Commander ‘Doc’ Gibbs

    The American Legion Family honored the national commander of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) during a weekend “Homecoming Celebration” April 26-27 in Buffalo.

    Department of New York Commander Gary Schacher and Department Adjutant Jim Casey joined members of the Sons, the Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary as they welcomed and paid tribute to New York’s own Greg “Doc” Gibbs, the 2018-2019 national SAL commander.

    Gibbs is also past commander of the SAL Detachment of New York.

  • 101st National Convention Celebrates Centennial in Indianapolis

    The American Legion’s 101st National Convention will celebrate the Legion’s centennial year in Indianapolis, Indiana, Aug. 23-29.

    Some general information about the National Convention is now available here.

    The Department of New York delegation will be staying at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Indianapolis.

    The Sgt. Devin A. Snyder Memorial Foundation is holding the 7th Annual Sgt. Devin Snyder Ride to Remember on Saturday, June 1. The event starts and ends at Wayland American Legion Post 402, 102 N. Main St., Wayland, NY. Registration is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with kick stands up at noon. In addition to Wayland Post, the ride is supported by American Legion Riders Chapter 905 in Springwater. See Ride Poster
