Homecoming Gala for Department Leaders Is May 20
The entire New York American Legion Family is invited to the May 20th Homecoming Gala for Department Commander David Riley Sr., Department President Nancy Babis and Detachment Commander Timothy Van Patten II.
The dinner gets underway at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Vernon Downs Casino Hotel, 4229 Stuhlman Road, Vernon, New York 13476. A cash bar reception precedes dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. read more »

Yankee Doodle Band Leader Passes
Dan Hannon, a long-time leader and musician with Fort Crailo Post 471’s Yankee Doodle Band, has passed away.
With the band since 1957, Hannon was business best-usa-casinos-online.com manager, lead trombonist and parade leader.
His funeral is set for Tuesday, March 28, at W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, NY 12144. Calling hours are 3 to 5 p.m. with a service st 5:30.
In addition to peroforming out in the public, the band is a regular feature at the Department Mid-Winter Conference and the Department Convention parade.

ALBANY — Ian Chung, a junior at Vestal Senior High School in Vestal, NY, is The American Legion New York State Oratorical Champion for 2023, Oratorical Chairman Anthony Paternostro announced.
This year’s contest was conducted on March 4, 2023, at the Crown Plaza-Desmond Hotel in Albany.

NY Homecoming for Jim Troiola on April 15-16

Team New York cordially invites members of the American Legion Family to attend the New York Homecoming Events on April 15-16 honoring National Commander Vincent J. “Jim” Troiola.The highlight Homecoming Luncheon takes place at noon Sunday, April 16, at the Crowne Plaze Albany – The Desmond Hotel (660 Albany-Shaker Rd., Albany).
Saturday features several options, which culminate in an evening of dining and dancing at Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520.
During the day, there’s a choice of touring the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, visiting Rivers Casino in Schenectady, or touring the USS Slater in Albany.
