Brooks Shepard, Rockland, Adrean, Amsterdam Win Opening Games
Brooks Shepard Pitcher Connor Ewing opened the first game of the tournament.
Brooks Shepard Post of Fairport, Rockland Pirates (Rockland County OTB Pirates Post 130) of Stony Point, host Adrean Post 625 and Amsterdam Post 791 grabbed first day wins in the New York State American Legion Baseball Championship Tournament.
Brooks Shepard beat Maine-Endwell Post of Endicott, 8-7, in the opening game.
Rockland Pirates defeated McKeever Post 64 of Buffalo, 11-8, in game 2.
In game 3, Adrean rallied to triumph over Clinton County Mariners of Plattsburgh, 18-8.
In the nighttime game 4, Amsterdam Post surged ahead in the bottom of the eighth, maintaining a 6-4 lead to beat Whitestown Post 1113.
