Legion Riders Escort Bicyclists to Avon, Present $1,500
The American Legion Riders from Lima Post 282 greeted and escorted the cross-country bicyclists (three Boy Scouts and a Vietnam vet) to Legion Post 294 in Avon Sunday, reports Jerry Ketchum, vice director of New York State American Legion Riders. “it was the first time they were escorted by a Legion Riders Chapter.”
The Lima Riders then surprised the bicycling crew with a $1,500 donation for the American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors (OCW).
The Oregon Scouts and veteran are making the bike trip to bring attention to and raise funds for OCW, which aids wounded warriors. Pedaling across New York is the last leg of their 59-day trek. They expect to conclude it Aug. 15 in New York City.
