2nd Junior Round Eliminates All But Rockland and Saratoga
ROME — William Russell Post 404 of Vernon downed Clinton County Mariners, 9-3, in the second round of the New York State American Legion Junior Baseball Championships today (July 31). The win eliminated the Mariners from the tournament, being held at Delutis Field in Rome.
In the second game, Rockland OTB Pirates Post overtook Saratoga Stempede, 7 to 3.
In the third game, Saratoga came back to defeat and eliminate Wlliam Russell, 3-1.
Saratoga Stampede now squares off against Rockland Pirates at 10 a.m. Saturday. For Saratoga to win the title, the team needs to beat Rockland in two back-to-back games. Otherwise, Rockland takes the title of state junior champs.
