A Fresh Start for Our Legion Family!

    by Rena Nessler, commander

January not only marks a new year, it signifies a new beginning – a fresh start.

    Commander Nessler

It’s a time of resolutions to do better – whether it’s to be more involved in family life or to do some exercising and healthy eating.

For us veterans, it is also a never-ending time to remember those who sacrificed for our freedoms and well-being — as we look ahead to working together to help fellow veterans, to serve our communities, and to support our men and women in uniform.

I also see 2018 as new opportunity to create awareness about The American Legion and all that our posts do.

So, think about what you can do to spread the word about your post. Consider talking up The American Legion with brother and sister veterans; or conducting an awareness event such as a walk, or an open house (with free food and family-oriented fun). Simply put, create awareness. After all, January also marks the half-way point for posts to reach 100 percent membership goals.

Thank you for all that you do, and please, enjoy a healthy, prosperous, and most of all, a happy New Year.
