Rule Change for New Shooters
The Junior Shooting Sports program in the Department of New York has adopted a new rule defining a “new shooter” as not having any shooting experience prior to the current New York State American Legion League season – in order to qualify for “new shooter” awards, Program Chair Lawrence Behling announced.

ALTAMONT — Only 120 of the country’s half-million American Legion Riders have ever won the organization’s highest award, the American Legion Rider of Honor.
Steve Oliver, president of the Helderberg Chapter of the American Legion Riders Post 977 in Altamont, is now the 120th.
