Gibbs hails from Hamburg Post 527 in Erie County, District 8. Hes served as New York Detachment Commander in 2011-2012 and served the past two years as a NY Legion College faculty member running sessions related to legislation. Gibbs currently serves the Detachment of New York as legislative chairman, a post he has held the past six years. He also serves as VAVS representative for the Buffalo, NY VA Hospital.

He said he “sincerely appreciates” all his New York supporters that have helped during his campaign to seek national office and “looks forward to a productive year ‘Building Bridges to the Future’ with National Commander Mike Moss from the Detachment of Colorado.” He said his main area of concentration will be the eastern region covering Maine to West Virginia, France, and Washington, D.C.

Gibbs will host a homecoming, an “Unofficial Eastern Gathering Weekend” on April 17-18, 2015 at the Hamburg Post.

“Details will be available soon and the entire New York Legion Family is invited to attend,” he said. In addition, “there will be a Leadership Seminar/Workshop put on by Past National SAL Commanders for any SAL member seeking the challenge of leadership roles on that Saturday.”
